The 1-Putt System
Putting accounts for at least 43% of your score. Driving amounts to less than 25%, with all your other clubs contributing the rest.
Because putting weighs so heavily on your score, a 10% improvement in your putting performance will affect your score more dramatically than a 10% improvement in either your driving distance or any other part of your game.
And being a great putter reduces the pressure on the rest of your game.
Confidence in putting makes it easier to chip or pitch close enough to 1-putt; you won't feel the pressure to get the ball within inches to save par. Knowing that you just need to get the ball close to the green in regulation to make par relaxes your approach shot. Knowing that getting close to or on the green is simply a matter of keeping it in the short grass off the tee will reduce the pressure on your drive.
From tee to green, having confidence in your ability to 1-putt takes pressure off your game.
Unfortunately, most golfers spend a lot of their time, effort and money trying to hit the ball 10 yards farther off the tee. They don't realize that improving distance also means improving accuracy. Otherwise, they'll just be hitting it farther out-of-bounds.
Putting is much simpler than driving. Improving putting performance is easier than improving driving performance. You'll probabbly never drive the ball like Tiger Woods, Laura Davies or Jack Nicklaus; but if you learn the right techniques to improve your putting game and then practice them, you can putt as well (or even better) than a lot of pros.
Putting is golf's simplest yet most misunderstood skill. A fundamentally sound stroke won't make you a great putter. It's only a small part of your overall putting performance. So many golfers focus only on the mechanics, or just getting the ball in the hole. But great putting is a combination of many skills -- many of which are overlooked. By being aware of the skills you need and developing them, you can achieve your potential as a putter.
Fortunately, these skills are as simple to learn as the putting stroke itself. And when you use the 1-Putt Golf Schools' system to understand, practice and hone them, improved putting performance can become a reality for you.
The 1-Putt Golf Schools skills you'll develop include:
• A simple, repeatable, fundamentally sound stroke
• Proper visual alignment
• Mental and visual focus control
• Distance control or "feel"
• Read greens for distance and direction
• Stress management
• A pre-putt routine
